چکیده

The spread of video surveillance systems and video phones means that video cameras are more ubiquitous than ever before. In the event of a catastrophe the video captured by these cameras is an important source of information for those directing the response. This information is currently either ignored because it is seen as inaccessible, filtered through the media, or requires a huge commitment of human resources in order to perform the required processing. We present here an approach towards acquiring and processing this video in order to extract as much value as possible within the shortest time period. The approach presented allows flexible, intelligent video processing to be carried out quickly and securely. BIOGRAPHY: The authors are at the University of Adelaide, Australia. Dr. van den Hengel is director of the Australian Centre for Visual Technologies, and conducts research in automated video surveillance in collaboration with authors Dick and Hill. Dr. Detmold has extensive experience in software architecture research, and is currently working on scalable software architectures for large scale video surveillance networks.

Compressed Domain Scene Change Detection Based on Transform Units Distribution in High Efficiency Video Coding Standard

Scene change detection plays an important role in a number of video applications, including video indexing, searching, browsing, semantic features extraction, and, in general, pre-processing and post-processing operations. Several scene change detection methods have been proposed in different coding standards. Most of them use fixed thresholds for the similarity metrics to determine if there wa...

A Machine Learning Approach to No-Reference Objective Video Quality Assessment for High Definition Resources

The video quality assessment must be adapted to the human visual system, which is why researchers have performed subjective viewing experiments in order to obtain the conditions of encoding of video systems to provide the best quality to the user. The objective of this study is to assess the video quality using image features extraction without using reference video. RMSE values and processing ...

NARS: Network Bandwidth Adaptive Scalable Real-Time Streaming for Smart Ubiquitous Middleware NARS: Network Bandwidth Adaptive Scalable Real-Time Streaming for Smart Ubiquitous Middleware

In ubiquitous environments, the exchange of different types of real-time video data can be extremely useful under various circumstances, particularly during disasters. For instance, in the wake of a catastrophe, it would be extremely important to assure real-time transmission of video data of escape routes, nearby regions of safety, and the locations of survivors. To assure real-time transmissi...
